I am rewarding my hard work with a weekend in Venice!

Well not really...I have had this trip planned for while, but because of this trip I had to pack in three classes in a row and it almost killed me! I had plans on Thursday so in order to do my 3 cardio classes this week I was there Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday night (well not all of me was there Wednesday).

Mondays class was great and all of us that showed up should be proud to have braved the rain, wind and cold to make it to class. Since there only about 10 of us everyone could see me not able to get a handle on one of the moves...I would get it, then lose it, then get it and then we had to turn around and I lost it again. But it was a really good class and didn't feel cold at all walking home afterward.

Tuesday I finally tried the circuit class for the first time...that is a workout! Even one of the pilates balls tried to escape! When I woke up Thursday my legs, stomach and arms were all sore but I enjoyed the class and will be back next Tuesday!

Wednesday I did the ball class...well I attempted the ball class but after Monday and Tuesday's class I was literally worn out! This class was also a first for me and I look forward to taking more ball/pilates classes...hopefully not after two previous days of cardio classes...that is a bit too much!

I have found that I have lost almost 2 kilos (over 4lbs) which I am really happy about...but more than that at least one other person (other than me) has noticed that my waist is getting smaller!! Yay...now lets just hope I don't ruin all this good work by over eating in Venice!

I love the stretch class!

I did the stretch class this morning and after doing a few of the other classes for the fit blog challenge I must say the stretch class is still my favorite! Thats not to say I don't really enjoy the other classes...I am enjoying every class I have done so far but the stretch class is wonderful! And while it sounds easy its not that easy and I always feel it in my muscles the next day.

I also did the Monday night class with Wendy...man that was a workout! I really enjoyed learning new and different moves and really liked the mamba and cha cha cha moves! I think all us bloggers and everyone in class was proud to have made it through to the end (except two people who snuck out early ;)). It was an intense class but a really good workout.

Next week I really want to try the circuit class...I haven't tried that yet. I have waited to weigh myself since we started but will do this on Sunday...I am looking forward to seeing how much weight I have lost.

1st week done!

Thanks to everyone who commented on my first blog. I will definitely try to make some of the pilates classes!

I have just finished my first week and it was great! Before this challenge I had only taken Jane's stretch class so I didn't know quite what to expect in the cardio classes. Before Monday evening's class I was worried that I would be huffing and puffing half way through and wouldn't be able to keep up. Luckily this didn't happen. The class was a great high energy workout so I was very happy I made it to the end. I really liked that we learned moves and then put them together to create an actual routine. I got a bit turned around during the boxes and another move but I got the hang of it.

I really wanted to make the Tuesday evening circuit class but had other plans. I did two classes on Thursday...the stretch class which was great as usual and the Thursday evening Dance Fit & Tone class. Here I got to get some practice with the moves we learned on Monday...they were much easier to do this time! I really liked that this class also had strength exercises using the weights...I learned that my arms really need some work!

Friday I did feel the effects of two classes in one day but it felt good! I was still a little sore on Saturday but I still made it to the Funk and Tone class despite the rain, wind and cold. We worked on the same moves and again I found myself getting turned around a little less this time. Again I like that this class uses weights and strength exercises. This was a great way to get you moving on a Saturday. Instead of just coming around by late afternoon I had already had a great work out and came home feeling energized instead of lazy.

Overall I have really enjoyed the classes. I do feel a bit more fit and have more energy. My goal next week is to try and get to a pilates class. It was great to see so many bloggers at each of the classes. It really gives you that extra support knowing others who are doing the same things. I only blogged once this week but will definitely try to blog more this coming week. See you all in class!

About me

My New Year's resolution for 2009 was to be healthier and lose extra weight I had gained over the past few years. I started seeing a nutritionist earlier this year who helped me improve my diet and help me lose over 6 kilos! I have also seen my overall health improve as well. Losing the weight and improving my diet gave me the motivation to take things to the next level. While I have lost weight I haven't been able to really tone and get that flat stomach I have always wanted. I knew the next step was to get moving but gym memberships can be quite expensive not to mention the time to travel to and from the gym and the extra fees for certain classes. Luckily I found JCW Fitness and have recently started attending the stretch class which I have really enjoyed. The fact that the classes are so near to my home has made it hard to find an excuse not to go and the range of classes offered are also appealing.

I am very excited to start participating in the cardio classes because I feel this will help me tone while losing extra weight and raising my energy levels. My current weight is 63kg but my overall goal is to get this down to 58kg. I know that may take more than a month but if I can continue to lose weight, build muscle and lose the belly I will be so pleased. Seeing and feeling the results are the best ways to movtivate yourself to keep at it! Therefore my goal is to lose around 2 kilos or more and really get into the habit of incorporating exercise into my daily life. As I am also in the process of quitting smoking (I know...horrible habit to have) I really feel that the exercise will also help me stop smoking as well. If all goes according to plan by the end of the year I will have fully reached my goal of being a non-smoking, healthy eating and active person which means I will have fulfilled my New Year's resolution just in time to start 2010 as a new, healthy individual! I would love to be able to visit my family in the states for Christmas and show them the progress I have made.

The picture is of me in a top I really love but hate the way it looks on me...its not very flattering to my mid-region. So hopefully in a month I will have a new pic of me in this top where I feel that I look much better and my stomach looks much smaller!
